How was Christmas?

So sorry for the long hiatus, there was just so much to do before Christmas: shopping, cleaning, cooking, baking. I promise to be more consistent.
Anyways, how was Christmas? I hope you all enjoyed spending time with family and received/gave some great gifts. I know I had a great time and even received some of the items on my wishlist like Hunters.

I would love to hear about how your Christmas went. Comment below!

Christmastime is Here

"Maybe Christmas, he thought doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas....perhaps....means a little bit more!" -How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss

I've come to the conclusion that one must get into the Christmas mood by watching Christmas movie marathons, drinking bottomless cups of hot cocoa and decorating the tree.

Here is a compilation of my favorite Christmas movies so far:

1) Home Alone- My favorite Christmas movie of all time. Nothing beats the original. Macaulay Culkin was such a cutie in this movie.

2) Elf- Such a funny movie that brings back great memories for me. I especially love the escalator scene and when the little businessman has a fight with Buddy for calling him an elf.

3) How the Grinch Stole Christmas- I know this movie's given nightmares to other kids, but it's never happened to me. There's something about this movie that just makes me so happy.

4) Miracle on 34th Street(remake)- I haven't the seen the original yet, but I thought the remake starring Mara Wilson (from Matilda) was really cute.

5) Love Actually- My favorite of the rom-com blockbusters. The puppy love storyline between Sam and Joanna was so cute! :)

What are some of your favorite holiday movies?

The Holidays: Thanksgiving FOOD

I'm so excited for Thanksgiving tomorrow! I'll be going over to my Grandma's house tomorrow and on Friday, I'm hosting my Dad's side of the family. Per usual, I will be making a family favorite, Coconut Macaroons. Now, I know what you're thinking Aren't those usually eaten on Passover? Yes, they are usually eaten on Passover, but my family loves them so much, that I make them pretty much every holiday season.

Mmmmmm.... Doesn't that look delicious? The chocolate on top just makes it extra special.:)

Along with the macaroons, I will also be cooking Thanksgiving dinner on Friday. I'm going all out, the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cornbread.. anything you can think of that is traditionally served on Thanksgiving, I'm making.

Menu:
1) Turkey
2) Sausage Stuffing
3) Mashed Potatoes
4) Cornbread
5) Cranberry Sauce
6) Dinner rolls
7) Vegetables

I think that's all for today. More pics of food to come!!

Wish me luck,
Samantha

The Holidays I: Dress Your Best

Believe it or not, the holidays are upon us. The days of sipping hot cocoa by the fireplace, watching marathons of Christmas movies (Home Alone anyone?) and best of all spending time with family and friends (although eating (a lot of) good food comes in a very close second). So, to start out the holidays I thought I would begin by discussing holiday dresses. Dresses do not come in petites unless noted, but a smaller size and a little hem could work in most cases.

Very simple; a blank canvas for accessorizing.
Comes in petite S-XL

Leather-Trim Dress
Immediately fell in love with this dress. I love the leather detailing on the collar.

Factory ponte dress in velvet dot

For maybe a dressier affair; very classic silhouette

Factory stretch wool peplum dress
If you haven't noticed, I love red around the holiday season and this is no exception. This dress could be made extra special with accessories.

The decorative neckline on this dress is something unexpected and new.

Which dress do you like? Do you know of any holiday dresses?
